Why I studied the degree? And for what I studied an MBA and Master's degree in Pharmacoeconomics and Market Access?
This question can be answered more easy with nursering or medicine degrees becase these degrees are more focused the patient care. But, in my case it was also a vocational chosen because I like helping people by a different way.
This way to help is participating in the registration and maintenance of new medicinal products or existing medicinal products. When I studied the degree I was not able to see that this part it was the area that I like the most but I was sure that my career had to go in the way to participate in the access to the patient to medicines by other way.
So, when I was studying the degree I started to work in a smal consultancy focused on Regulatory Affairs. In this company I started to learn about how to register new medicinal products (innovative medicinal products) and how to maintain them through their lifecycle.
As I wanted to learn more about the pharmaceutical industry and how it works a pharmaceutical company from the point of view of the research, development, register, supply, maintain and also how all departments work cross-funtionallity I decided to do an MBA related to the Pharmaceutical Industry.
Other important event was when I moved to my first pharmaceutical company (at the same time that I was doing the MBA); in this company I was able to see how a pharmaceutical company with generics medicinal product works.
After this, I decided to work in a bigger pharmaceutical consultancy (pharmalex). This change, it is not the most common change allowed me to work with a very different companies with innovative medicinal products. So, this is the reason that I decided to do this change because I wanted to learn more about how other companies work and to work with other medicinal products and other pharmaceutical areas. In this company, I had the opportunity also, to work in other departments like quality, pharmacovigilance and market access. It was great to understand the needs of other departments also and how important is to stay alined all departments to do the work more efficient. So, for this reason I decided to do the master's degree in pharmacoeconomics and market access. This degree allowed me to complete the puzzle about the pharmaceutical industry and to understand that after the registration of a new medicinal product the work is not finished here. There are a lot of barriers to overcome to get the medicinal product in the market.
